Day 28 - Inspired by a FLAG

School has been crazy these past few weeks. Exams are starting which totally sucks the life out of me. I am hoping to finish up with my challenge posts before the end of the month. Woah, dream big!

For today's post I really wanted to do Harry Potter flags, but I couldn't bear to put them on my nails only to have them chip. So I did them on a nail wheel and I'll post those later!

For the challenge though, I decided on Argentina's flag. It's a simple white and sky blue striped flag with a sun in the center.

I didn't really do the sun justice, but I did my best!

I used China Glaze Sea Spray for my base and China Glaze White On White for the stripe. For the sun I used Orly Spark.

I hope you like!

I'll be tweeting when the new posts are up, so be sure to follow me! @nailpolishrehab

Check and see how the other girls did for this challenge!

Day 9 - Rainbow Nails; USE ALL THE COLORS!

Day 9 - Rainbow Nails

Today is rainbow nails! What better way to show off my inner 90's kid than with Lisa Frank inspired nails. If you don't know who Lisa Frank is then you have not lived.

Obviously a fashion icon.
That is what it looks like when you throw up rainbows. Lisa was ahead of her time. Little did she know we would all be copying her rainbow gradient with animal print 20 years later. Looking through the shop confirmed how timeless Lisa Frank really is. She's been selling the same exact stuff, for what, 30 years and kids eat this up like its a brand new idea. Marketing geniuses. Now if only she'd come to the land of grown ups and collaborate with Betsey Johnson or someone who would accept her inner wild child and make some rainbow leopard/zebra print pumps! Seriously. I'd buy them in a heart beat.

So I guess I'm done rambling for now, onto the manicure!

Here are the polishes I used. When I said in the title "USE ALL THE COLORS" I literally meant I used so many colors.
Left to Right:
Sinful Colors - Black on Black
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - White On
Zoya - Ginessa
Stripe Rite - Black
Stripe Rite - White

Left to Right:
OPI - Go On Green
Orly - Snowcone
Orly - Sweet Peacock
ULTA -
Sally Hansen - Deep Purple

Left to Right:

Sally Hansen - Sun Kissed
Orly - Spark
Julep - Leah

Left to Right:
Seche Vite
Seche Clear
China Glaze - Wireless Holographic Top Coat

There are a few polishes I can't remember names for at the moment so I'll update them later when I get the chance!

If I didn't make it clear earlier, I just want to say that I freaking love Lisa Frank. She combines all of my favorite things: bright colors, glitter, animal print, cute furry animals and makes these fantastically horrible creations with them. What more could a girl ask for in life? Nothing. Well... except maybe some more nail polish.

I'm obsessed with this manicure. Usually I post these manicures hoping people will like them, but this one I don't even care because I'm obsessed enough for everyone.

Be sure to check out what the others did for today's mani! And follow us on twitter too!

P.S. This manicure is dedicated to my roommate! She had a poster over her bed sophomore year that was most definitely Lisa Frank. Even though she swears it was just some abstract grown up rainbow splatter thing, I know better. I can spot a genuine Lisa Frank creation a mile away. So here's to you Erin, embracing your inner 90's kid before it was cool.

Day 8 - Metallic Nails; Orly - Rage

Day 8 - Metallic Nails
Orly - Rage

The challenge for today was metallic nails. Rage is from Orly's Foil FX collection. It is a rose gold metallic foil. I've had it for quite some time now and I constantly find myself returning to this polish.

Like most Orly's I have dealt with it only requires 2 coats, and you could probably get away with one if you wanted a semi-sheer polish.

Macro shot of polish in the bottle

Then I added some black dots using Sinful Color's Black on Black. It was the first time I ever used a dotting tool. Such a noob. It took me a while to get used to the technique and amount of polish to use.

This polish is definitely one of my favorite metallics. The only con I would have to say is, what I like to call, Edward Cullen hands. When removing the polish it leaves this glittery residue all over the tips of your fingers. It's so annoying. It comes off after washing your hands a few times and wiping your fingers clean with acetone, but I still wish that didn't happen. Rather than magnetic polish they should make magnetic nail polish remover that picks up all the left over glitter particles from your fingers. That'd be great. Someone get on that. (And don't tell me glitter particles don't have magnetic attraction. As Tim Gunn would say, "Make it work.")

As always be sure to check out what the other girls did for today's challenge! Follow us on twitter too!
Has anyone else tried polishes from the FX collection?

Day 7 - Black and White Nails

Day 7 - Black and White

So we are officially a week in to the challenge. I want preface this post with I am not a huge fan of my mani today, but seeing as I started it at 1am last night after I couldn't fall asleep I really didn't have time to think of anything else.

And even though I wasn't a huge fan I'm uploading a million pictures because that is what I do. lol I can't help it.

As you can see it's a little different. I don't really know what I was going for. My philosophical side would like to say that to me there isn't just black and white but shades of grey as well, but thats a load of BS. I was considering a gradient I guess, but then I didn't feel like sponging, so I got lazy and just used an acrylic brush to paint the different shades.

I started with a base of Orly - Goth. Which I didn't photograph because once again I was too lazy to do a clean up in between steps. Goth is one of my favorite blacks. It has a nice silver sparkle to it that doesn't take over the color but still has a nice glisten.

Then I mixed Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's Wet Cement with Orly's Goth and some black and white until I got a dark shade of grey because strangely enough I don't own one. At least I don't remember owning a dark grey... I take that back as I am writing this I am remembering about Julep's Kim which is a gun metal but whatever.

Then I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Wet Cement.

Then a white nail striper.

Finally, I added some glitter using a silver striper to the white. Bleh.

If you keep scrolling you can see when I got bored with it and decided to add China Glaze's Wireless Holographic Top Coat.

China Glaze - Wireless Holographic Top Coat

This top coat is so pretty. I mean it doesn't really look great over this manicure, but ignore what's underneath and just focus on the magic of the holo. UGH. If I could paint my bedroom walls in this, I would. On a serious note, why haven't they made holographic paint for walls? I would have bought gallons and painted my entire house. (Mom, you're lucky they haven't made this yet because I'm serious).

Anyways this was only one coat of the Wireless Top Coat.

Sorry for a million pictures! I just can't help myself/I'm too lazy to narrow it down any further.

Be sure to check out what everyone else did for today's challenge!!
